The Federal Premium Law Enforcement HST Tactical product line is one of the most well respected in the defensive ammunition industry today. The bullet design features a thick copper jacket with skivved grooves and a cannelure base over a lead core. They designed the hollow point bullet so upon impact, it opens up like a blooming flower. Even though the hollow point bullet mushrooms to just under twice its diameter, it still keeps its jacket and core intact, yet doesn’t over-penetrate. According to testing by Federal, the 9mm is about .354″ in diameter respectively, and when shot thru Ballistics Gel with a single clothing layer, the recovered bullet diameter was .63″+/-. Federal Premium uses the 124 grain JHP bullet, brass cases with nickel plating, non-corrosive Boxer primers, and the +P powder charge, making these rounds some of the most widely used on the market. These +P 9mm rounds have a muzzle velocity of 1208 feet per second, and a muzzle energy of 364 foot pounds. These 124 grain 9mm +P HSTs come in boxes of 50 rounds instead of the usual 20 round box, making this a great value for any defensive shooter. These are American-made and have reloadable cases.
