AK9I’s Patrol & Detector Dog Trainer program is an intensive, hands-on working-dog training program designed to prepare students to develop, train, and maintain patrol and detection dogs for professional operational environments.

Students learn the principles and practical skills required to take a working dog from foundational development through reliable operational performance. Training includes canine behavior and learning theory, dog selection and evaluation, care and conditioning, obedience, odor detection, search techniques, tracking, patrol applications, problem solving, behavior shaping, and the development of effective dog-and-handler teams.

A major emphasis of the program is learning how to train the dog—not simply how to handle a previously trained dog. Students gain practical experience evaluating canine behavior, establishing training objectives, building behaviors through progressive training, recognizing and correcting performance issues, and adapting training methods to the individual dog.
